876 new homes and 50 spaces for new businesses will animate rejuvenated lanes and yards, with lanes running down drawing visitors through the site to the river and create a new south side to the High Street.

HAL helped Ballymore establish a new presence for the site and is restoring and converting historic buildings in eight locations across the scheme that will help define the project’s new character.

The Big Blue - Putting The Project On The Map

‘The Big Blue’ transformed the site’s presence in the town centre. Bright blue paint, marking the high-water mark of Brentford’s historic flood, was applied to the lane and buildings leading from the High Street down to the waterside. It was very effective in attracting people down to sample the new café and bakery, and to view the marketing gallery.

The bakery thrived and also sold bread wholesale to leading London restaurants, while the café and events space proved popular with locals and visitors to the adjacent Duke of London’s classic car garage and storage facilities. These are now being recreated in the multi-storey car park at the project’s eastern end.

This frontage includes a pair of Grade II-listed townhouses adjacent to the Magpie and Crown pub. HAL has integrated a new build element to complete the terrace alongside the restoration and conversion of these older buildings.

New shops and a restaurant will front the High Street with 10 new apartments above. These are accessed via a first-floor walkway to the rear, creating McIllroy Mews.
